The Shore area will take a well-deserved break from subfreezing temperatures and the threat of snow and ice this week, but a warm front will bring rain along with it, the National Weather Service said.
On the plus side, Monday night marked the first night of the year that the sun set after 5 p.m., marking the slow trek toward spring and summer ahead. On the gloomier side, though no watches or warning have been issued, standard-fare wet weather will likely be sticking around the rest of the week.
According to the NWS forecast, Tuesday will remain dry – but cloudy – with a high of 42 degrees. Light rain will move into the area after 11 p.m., continuing through midday Wednesday before a steadier rain takes hold. Rain will continue Wednesday night, with about a half-inch of rain falling between the day and nighttime hours.

Thursday’s high will reach a mild 55, but with steady rainfall all day, adding up to another quarter-inch to half-inch of rain mounting up, the NWS said. Another quarter to half-inch will fall Thursday night.
The rain will continue into Friday, with a high of 57 degrees, giving away to cloudy skies in the afternoon.
As the forecast currently stands, it is unlike the Shore area will see sunshine again until Saturday, when the high will reach an even 50 degrees. The long range forecast, however, calls for a return to rainy conditions Sunday.
