The township’s planning board recently memorialized its decision to grant approval to a local entrepreneur seeking to open a Bed and Breakfast in a historic home in Downtown Toms River.
The home, located at 801 Main Street, was built in 1888, according to deed records registered at the Ocean County Clerk’s office. The B&B would be known as “Huddy House,” and operated by Vicki Weiss- Ippolito, who also owns the popular Mathis House Victorian Bed & Breakfast and Victorian Tea Room, also located on Main Street.
Ippolito recently announced that on Feb. 27, a “Tea Club Meeting” will be held at 6 p.m. at Mathis House where she will present the history of the Mathis House and details on the new Huddy House Bed and Breakfast which is currently planned to open in the Spring of 2024. A Facebook page dedicated to the event has been published.

“We will walk over as a group for a tour of the new Huddy House,” she said via social media.
The complimentary event requires an RSVP to 732-818-7580.
According to a real estate listing from when the home was sold in early 2023, the “Victorian mansion” that will now become Huddy House features “five fireplaces, a jaw-dropping grand staircase, original wood moldings, and custom-stained glass windows to match the wallpaper.”
The first floor includes a foyer, living room, formal dining room, library, butler’s pantry, kitchen, dinette, and bathroom. The back of the house contains extra office space with a private entrance. The front of the house has two private conference rooms with french doors for privacy. Upstairs has four bedrooms, one bath, and a kitchen.
The planning board approval was only required due to the building’s location in the Village Office Business Zone and a few minor pre-existing setbacks that needed to be ratified.
