A two-month long investigation by Brick police resulted in a pair of senior citizens being arrested and charged with drug distribution following a search warrant executed at a township home.

The department’s Police Street Crimes Unit (SCU), assisted by the county Narcotics Strike Force, executed the search at a residence on Lenape Trail in Brick Township in March 13. The warrant was a result of a two month investigation into the “distribution of illegal narcotics throughout Brick Township,” said Ptl. Victoria Finelli.

Roy John Pickell Jr, 64, of Brick Township and Joseph Coiro, 59, of Whiting, were arrested upon execution of the warrant, she said.

During the search, detectives seized heroin, cocaine, furosemide, diazepam, two digital scales and several miscellaneous items of drug paraphernalia, Finelli said. Pickell and Coiro were both charged with three counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of furosemide, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Pickell and Coiro were processed at Brick Police Headquarters and lodged in Ocean County Jail.
