A beach day can also be a pizza day this summer in Brick.

The township, which is in the midst of completing maintenance repairs of the snack stand and concession facility at Brick Beach III, awarded a contract at its meeting Tuesday night to station a pizza truck at the beach since the regular stand cannot be used this summer.

The council accepted a $2,000 bid from Little Caesars pizza in Toms River to provide food this summer.

The council also, on Tuesday night, approved an annual arrangement for lifeguarding services with the Ocean Club condiminium complex, which is located just south of Beach III. Under the agreement, the private condominium complex will be covered by Brick lifeguards, for which the township will be compensated their full cost. Officials have said partnering with private beach associations is a benefit for residents of the beach communities while also adding to the overall roster of lifeguards who can respond to emergencies anywhere along the township’s oceanfront.
