Brick officials are already looking toward the fall season to complete projects that will ensure the township’s primary public beach will operate normally again next summer.

The township council this week solicited bids for a project that would improve the concession stand and restroom building at Brick Beach III, the largest and southernmost public beach in Brick. The building has been closed this season due to the need for structural repairs; the council awarded a contract to Little Caesar’s Pizza in Toms River to operate a mobile stand at the beach in lieu of the normal snack stand operation.

“The project consists of the replacement of concrete columns that support the roof structure of portions of the concession building,” said Councilman Perry Albanese.

Albanese said the project would also include the replacement of attic vents, soffit vents, glass block windows, masonry work and cedar siding repairs.

Funds for the project were allocated in this year’s capital budget, passed by the council in the spring. It is expected that bids will be received in the coming month and, after a contract is awarded, work will be completed well in advance of next year’s beach season.
