Brick Township PBA Local 230 is hosting its second annual “Allie’s Army” 5K run next month, which will benefit the family of a local teacher battling cancer.

Allie’s Army was formed in support of Allie Puccio, a Brick Township woman who passed away at the young age off 33 earlier this year after her own seven month-long battle with cancer. Keeping Puccio’s own generous nature alive, her friends and family decided to continue the 5K benefit run to raise funds to support others in their own battles.

Next month’s race will benefit the family of Kim O’Brien, a 36-year-old teacher in Monmouth County who has been diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia. Her husband, Connor O’Brien, is a Brick Township native who works as an engineer for the Port Authority, and the couple have two children – Madison, 7, and Kellen, 5.
