A project to pave and elevate a roadway in one of Brick Township’s lagoon communities was advanced this week, with the township council soliciting bids for the work to be performed along Bay View Drive.

The roadway is located within the Shore Acres community, toward the end of Drum Point Road in the southern portion of the township. Bay View Drive serves as a winding corridor linking the western portion of the neighborhood to the main road, and has been one of many in the area prone to flooding over the years.

The bid solicitation calls for the roadway to be elevated to engineers’ specifications, which have yet to be developed, and repaved with drainage improvements. The roadway will be reconstructed between Drum Point Road and Adair Drive, said Councilman Derrick Ambrosino. The reconstruction will include milling and paving within the entire swath, in addition to the elevation.

The project is being partially funded through a municipal aid program from the state Department of Transportation. There is no guaranteed timeline for the project established as of yet since bid specifications must be prepared and advertised, the council must award a contract based on those bids, and pre-construction meetings to determine a schedule must be held.
