Six Flags announced Friday that its Great Adventure park in Jackson will adopt a chaperone policy, requiring an adult to accompany all visitors age 15 and younger.
Under the policy, which begins Sept. 7, all guests ages 15-years-old or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 21-years-old in order to be admitted to, or remain in, the park from 5 p.m. to close. The chaperone must present a valid government-issued photo identification with date of birth at ticket entry.
“The safety of our guests and associates has always been our top priority at Six Flags Great Adventure,” the park said in a statement. “We are committed to keeping Six Flags Great Adventure a place where families and friends come together to enjoy a one-of-a-kind park full of fun experiences and immersive entertainment.”

Social media, in recent years, has highlighted some instances of foul behavior at the park, including large groups of teens causing mischief and engaging in some physical altercations. The company did not specify its reasoning for implementing the new policy besides a general statement on safety.
According to the company, one chaperone may accompany no more than 10 guests ages 15 or younger per day. In addition, the chaperone must accompany their party during entry, remain inside the park during their visit, and be available by phone throughout their stay. Guests ages 15 or younger who are found inside the park unaccompanied by a chaperone will be subject to ejection. The chaperone requirement applies to all Six Flags Great Adventure ticket and season passholders.
