A Brick Township man was stabbed in the bicep by a Point Pleasant Beach man during a road rage altercation outside a local bank, police said.

The incident occurred earlier this month – on Nov. 3, according to Point Pleasant Borough police – outside the TD Bank branch on Bridge Avenue. An argument turned violent, culminating in Nicholas Ippolito, 32, of Point Pleasant Beach, stabbing the man in arm near the bicep, police alleged.

Police were called to the scene at about 11:15 a.m. in reference to a verbal dispute which had apparently turned physical by the time officers arrived. Ippolito was arrested Nov. 6 and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose Capt. Christopher Leonhardt said. The victim, who was not identified, was treated at a local hospital and released.

Ippolito had previously been the subject of press attention in 2014 after pleading guilty to manslaughter and drug distribution charges stemming from an investigation into the overdose death of a Brick man. He was taken to the Ocean County Jail following the most recent arrest, though he was released in accordance with New Jersey’s bail reform law, and is no longer listed as an inmate at the jail.
