A Toms River man dropped a gun at a Point Pleasant Beach church, leading to a police investigation that resulted in his arrest, authorities said.
Randolph Tashman, 60, of Toms River was arrested at an unidentified Point Pleasant Beach church on Sunday, Nov. 17 after police responded to a call reporting a man had dropped a firearm from his pocket at about 9:53 a.m. The man was escorted out of the church by a security guard, who called police.
According to a statement from police, it was determined that Tashman was not the registered owner of the firearm and did not possess a Firearm’s Identification card. Tashman had also allegedly identified himself as a law enforcement officer to church security prior to our officers’ arrival. It was later determined that Tashman is not in law enforcement.
