Authorities on Saturday released the identities of the victim in a fatal car accident that occurred Friday in Brick, as well as the name of the wrong-way driver who has been charged with driving while intoxicated.

According to a statement from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, the victim who lost her life in the crash was Anne Rasmussen, 58, of Whiting. Police say Rasmussen was traveling westbound on Route 70 just after 5 a.m. when she encountered a driver traveling the wrong way in a Toyota Rav4. That driver has been identified as Jose Romero Quinteros, 53, of Howell.

Rasmussen was partially ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.

Quinteros was extricated from his vehicle and taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, where he remained in critical but stable condition Saturday, officials said.

Quinteros was issued motor vehicle summonses by the Brick Township Police Department for driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. The investigation remains “active and ongoing,” authorities said, and there was a chance additional charges could be filed pending the outcome of that investigation.

Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer urged anyone in possession of information regarding the investigation to contact Detective Joseph Mitchell of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-929-2027, extension 3532, or Officer David Thergesen of the Brick Township Police Department at 732-262-1100.
