Improvements to the pier at Windward Beach Park in Brick Township, first funded in the township’s 2023 capital budget, are coming to fruition.
When the budget was passed at the time, it funded a study by an engineering firm to probe the condition of the T-dock so it could be determined whether it was due for maintenance or a full replacement. With that study completed, it was decided by engineering officials that the pier’s underpinnings were solid, but improvements were required on the surface.
The “T-dock” at Windward refers to the pier located near the west side of the park that juts out into the Metedeconk River and is popular with anglers, crabbers and those seeking out a good place to view the sunset. It is accessible by two paths that run from the beach and the nearby parking area.

Last week, the township council unanimously voted to solicit bids for the improvements, which will include a redecking of the timber pier and new handrails, said Councilman Steve Feinman.
Once bids are received, township staff will recommend the lowest qualified contractor, and the council will vote to award a contract. The work is expected to be completed in time for the summer season.
