Toms River police detectives are investigating an armed robbery that took place Tuesday night at the Got Sun tanning salon on Route 37.
According to police spokesman Ralph Stocco, a 23-year-old male employee told officers that a man entered the store about 8:50 p.m. and went directly behind the reception desk as he was being threatened with a box cutter.
The man demanded all of the money from the register and then fled out the rear door of the building into the parking lot with the undetermined amount of cash, Stocco said.
The suspect is described as a white male between 5-foot-3-inches and 5-foot-5-inches tall. He was wearing a black sweatshirt with the hood up and his face was covered with a surgical or dust mask.
