A portion of Route 35 in Point Pleasant Beach and Bay Head will be closed beginning Monday, Nov. 24, prompting detours in the area where the road curves at the border of the two towns.

Route 35 will be closed for several weeks from the intersection of Delaware Avenue to Osborne Avenue as the project to reconstruct Route 35 advances, the state Department of Transportation said in a statement.

The DOT’s contractor, Agate Construction Company, Inc., is scheduled to temporarily close a one block portion of Route 35 from Delaware Avenue in Point Pleasant Beach to Osborne Avenue in Bay Head to reconstruct the roadway and drainage.  Businesses on Route 35 in this area will be open during construction and local traffic will be maintained up to the point of closure.
