OCC Winter, Spring Registration Deadlines Approaching; Health Care Training Offered

Deadlines to register for winter intersession and spring semester classes at Ocean County College are approaching, school officials said Friday, and those who register early get the best selection of classes. Also at the college, non-credit professional training in the health care field.

Course schedules for credit, degree-track classes can be viewed at www.ocean.edu/cruiser.htm. Register online or in person; new students must register in person.



  •  Registration for the Winter Intersession runs through December 23.  Winter Intersession classes run for three weeks from January 2 to January 20, 2015.
  • Registration for the Spring Semester runs through January 13.  Spring Semester classes run for 15 weeks from January 22 to May 14.
  • Evening and weekend classes are held on the OCC Main Campus in Toms River, at the OCC Southern Education Center in Manahawkin, and at off-campus locations throughout Ocean County.  Online classes are also available.
  • For some courses, students may be required to take the College Placement Test. New full-time students must complete orientation prior to registering.

Register in-person Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday until 5 p.m. in the Registration and Records Office, Administration Building, (Bldg. #1), Main Campus, College Drive, Toms River, NJ. Registration is also taking place at the Southern Education Center in Manahawkin, Monday to Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday until 4:00 p.m., and Saturday until 12:00 noon.

The college is also offering career training, “fast track” classes in the health care field through its Department of Continuing and Professional Education.

Fast-track career training programs include Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist, Certified Medication Aide, Clinical Medical Scribe Specialist, Dental Assisting, Dental Office Front Desk Management, EKG Technician, Health Information Management (online), Medical Assistant Program, Medical Billing Professional, Medical Coding Professional, Medical Office Specialist, Nutrition Specialist, Paramedic Education Program, Patient Care Technician, Personal Trainer, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy Technician Training, and Physical Therapy Aide.

Most of OCC’s noncredit, fast-track, career training programs run from three to six months and serve as a successful career ladder with future educational growth.  Specific programs may articulate to college credit and/or prepare you to take the exams for or provide state/national certifications.
