Brick police have arrested and charged a man suspected of stealing breast pumps from the township’s Burlington Coat Factory store, and more charges are expected as an investigation continues.
Police are crediting tips received through social media in the identification of Joseph T. Galucci, 34, of Jackson, in the Dec. 1 theft. Galucci was formally charged by Detective Daniel Waleski in the theft of the breast pumps, worth about $1,000, on Dec. 31, Sgt. Henry Drew said.
Galucci was charged with shoplifting, with Municipal Court Judge Robert Lepore setting bail at $20,000 cash.

In addition, Galucci was charged by Barnegat Police Detective Richard Carr with shoplifting incidents that occurred in their jurisdiction, Drew said.
Galucci is currently being held at the Ocean County Jail in default of bail. Additional charges are expected upon review of the cases by the Ocean County Prosecutors Office, Drew said.
“The Brick Township Police Department would like to thank the numerous citizens that assisted in this case, again highlighting the importance of the police citizen relationship,” Drew said in a statement.
At the time of the breast pump theft, police said the thief fled on foot northbound on Brick Boulevard, eventually getting away in a white SUV after leaving the stolen pumps behind. Investigators believed that the same suspect had committed a similar theft of the same items at the Burlington Coat Factory located in Freehold.
