An Irish Pub style bar and restaurant will move into the former Simko’s Bar and Grill location on Brick Boulevard.
The township council recently approved a liquor license transfer from Simko’s to Mayo4Sam, LLC, which is connected to Blackthorn Irish Pub. A business by that name operates in Kenilworth, Union County, but the restaurant did not respond to a request for comment as to whether they were behind the Brick location.
The restaurant opening in Brick would be called P.J. Sweeney’s. A sign in front of the building is now advertising an Irish pub-style bar and restaurant opening soon there. On its Facebook page, the restaurant’s staff said it would be opening in June or July.

Simko’s, an American bar and restaurant, closed last year. It still operates its original location in Brielle.
