Its location may have changed over the past half-century, but Brick Township has been home to a library for 50 years, and Monday the Ocean County Library System will mark the occasion with a day-long celebration that will include a concert.

According to the county, a day and evening of activities and programs will begin 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24 with opening remarks by library and local officials to be followed by an anniversary cake and light refreshments provided by the Friends of the Brick Library. Games, crafts, movies and a concert of doo-wop and rock and roll music by Rhythm N’ Sound will also be part of the celebration.

All of the movies will be from the 1980s, the decade-theme that the library is celebrating throughout August as part of Ocean County Library’s overall 90th anniversary celebration. The “Page to Screen” movie marathon of “The Joy Luck Club” (rated R), “The Color Purple” (rated PG-13) and “Stand by Me” (rated R) begins at 2:30 p.m.
