Brick Farmers Market to Return in May, Vendors Announced

The Brick Farmers Market will return to town in May after a successful introduction in 2015, officials said.

“We’re starting the Farmers Market later in the season, and we’re doing it on purpose,” said Mayor John Ducey, explaining the May 21 start date this year. “Last year, we started off in April and there really weren’t many fresh vegetables or fruits.”

The township decided to start the event earlier in the season last year to lure vendors who previously may have been committed to farmers markets in Monmouth County and other locations. The idea, Ducey said, was to prove how popular the Brick market was in hopes of having the vendors stick around when their prime growing season got into full swing. The idea worked.

“They saw what the crowds were, and they all stayed on for the rest of the year,” said Ducey.

The township has retained essentially all of last year’s vendors for this year’s market.

“All of the vendors are going to offer their peak season produce,” said Ducey.

The Brick Farmers Market will run from May 21 through Oct. 1, every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Windward Beach Park.
