Brick American Legion Auxiliary Working to Brighten Holidays for Troops, And They Need Help

It’s still early fall, but the holiday season is just around the corner – especially when you need to plan some Christmas cheer for soldiers thousands of miles away.

Brick American Legion Auxiliary Unit 348 has begun planning its “Stockings for Soldiers” program, in which the group puts together gifts and care packages for those fighting for our freedom. This year’s effort is the unit’s third, in what has now become an annual tradition.



“We need help filling Christmas stockings to send to our troops overseas,” said Amy Ross, who is organizing the project.

Items the group is collecting include : hand and sock warmers, socks, powder drink packets, gum, granola bars, toiletries, playing cards and dog items for our canine heroes, Ross said.

No aerosol products are allowed.

Items may be dropped off inside the canteen at the Legion hall, 822 Mantoloking Road, Brick. Bins will be labeled for the collection. A separate bin will be set aside for can good donations for Vet Works, another project. Financial donations are accepted to help with the cost of shipping – Payable to “ALA 348.” Anyone with questions may contact Ross at 732-456-1426 or msamyross@yahoo.com.
