A portion of Brick Boulevard in Brick Township was closed Monday night for several hours as police investigated a crash between a 2015 Honda Civic and a 2020 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R motorcycle.

According to Sgt. Keith Donnelly, a preliminary investigation showed that the Honda, driven by Kathleen Kornass, 69, of Brick, turned left from Brick Boulevard southbound to enter the parking lot of 55 Brick Boulevard, the Bay Harbor Plaza shopping center, and the Ninja, who was traveling north on Brick Boulevard.

The Ninja had the right of way, Donnelly said, but the department’s Traffic Safety Unit is investigating to determine if speed was a factor.

The driver of the Ninja, Christopher Cincis, 36 of Toms River, was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by Brick Police EMS and Paramedics from Hackensack-Meridian.He suffered from injuries to his extremities, a police report said.

The roadway was closed and traffic was detoured for several hours during the investigation. The driver of the Honda was not injured.
