A single-vehicle crash led to a man suffering a serious leg injury and Route 70 being closed to traffic for about two hours early Friday morning, police said.

The crash took place at 12:08 a.m. on Route 70 between Chambers Bridge Road and Cedar Bridge Avenue, said Ptl. Jay Lampiasi, the Brick police department’s traffic safety officer. The vehicle involved, a 2020 GMC Sierra pickup truck, was being driven by George Francis, 32, of Bayville, according to police.

At the time of the accident, police said, the pickup veered off to the right and impacted the guard rail on the side of the highway. After impacting the guard rail, the truck veered to the left, crossing the double yellow line into the eastbound lanes. It then ran off the road, hitting the curb and guard rail, causing the vehicle to overturn. The truck fincally came to rest on its roof, trapping Francis inside.
