Fall leaf collections in Brick will begin Oct. 25, the township announced this week.
The Public Works Department will begin its annual leaf collection program this month, with each neighborhood in town rotating through two pickups. The entire program will continue through much of December. As has been the practice for many years, Brick residents should put out their leaves on the following dates.
If your recycling pickup day is:
- Tuesday: Oct. 25 and Nov. 29
- Wednesday: Nov. 1, Dec. 6
- Thursday: Nov. 8, Dec. 13
- Friday: Nov. 15, Dec. 20
- Monday: Nov. 22, Dec. 27
All leaves must be bagged. It is not legal in Brick to sweep leaves into the street, as the township does not operate vacuum trucks and leaves can block sewers, especially those located in flood-prone areas and the bottom of hills. Residents are asked to have their bagged leaves on the curb by 6 a.m. on their designated days. The bags should not contain branches, twigs or debris. Bags must not weigh more than 50 pounds; biodegradable bags are recommended, as crews will have to cut plastic bags and leave them at the curb on collection day.

Alternatively, leaves can be brought to the township’s recycling center on Ridge Road Monday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. They can also be brought to the Ocean County Recycling Center on New Hampshire Avenue in Lakewood.
Residents with questions are asked to call the Public Works department at 732-451-4060.
