NWS: Foggy Start, Stormy Finish to Weekend Forecast at Jersey Shore

A dense fog advisory was in effect until 12 noon Saturday, the National Weather Service reported, as an overall gloomy weekend began as waves of a marine layer rolled in beginning early Friday.

The NWS fog advisory warned of visibility of a quarter-mile or less, causing hazardous conditions on the roads and – needless to say – the waterways.

“If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you,” the advisory said.

Areas of dense fog will linger until about 3 p.m., despite the formal advisory ending at 12 noon, the NWS said. It will otherwise be cloudy, with a high near 61 and a chance of showers throughout the day.

A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms will continue into Saturday night through early afternoon Sunday. The stormy beginning of the day may give way to breaks of sunshine toward sunset, the forecast said. But clouds will roll back in Sunday night, with the threat of showers and thunderstorms continuing into next week.
