Brick Township hosted its annual Autism Surf Day event on the township’s ocean beach earlier this week, an event held each summer that introduces children with autism to surfing – and above all else, a great day at the beach.
Autism Surf Day came about after Brick Township Recreation Superintendent Dan Santaniello participated in a similar event in Monmouth County and started one in Brick. The event is a partnership between the township and Parents of Autistic Children (POAC) and Twin County Soccer. Coastline Adventures Surf School sponsored the event.
As always, Brick lifeguards donated their time (and surfing talent) along with the Brick Township High School football team, who pitched in to make sure things ran smoothly.
