What happened to fall? After weeks of summer-like temperatures, the chill of winter is in the air before Thanksgiving arrives, with the National Weather Service predicting frigid temperatures over the next several nights, despite sunshine during the day.
Barnegat Bay, consequentially, had the tell-tale scenery of winter all this week – especially with strong winds Wednesday and Thursday that whipped up waves and remaining boats out of action during the height of striped bass season. More of the outdoors can be seen in our video embedded above.
The NWS is forecasting excellent weather in terms of sunshine, but chilly daytime temperatures and subfreezing nighttime temperatures this weekend into this week. According to the official forecast:

Friday will be sunny with a high of 46 degrees, and wind will continue at 10-15 m.p.h. sustained with gusts between 20-25 m.p.h. during the day. The overnight low will be a frigid 25 degrees.
Saturday will remain sunny, but the high temperature will rise to just 43 degrees. Winds will be calmer, at 5-10 m.p.h., but gusts may still eclipse 20 m.p.h. The overnight low will drop down further than the night before, to 26 degrees.
Sunday’s high will reach only 40 degrees under sunny skies, with the overnight low heading into Thanksgiving week dipping down to 22 degrees. The week will begin Monday with a high of 46 degrees under sunny skies, with the low dropping to 29 degrees.

The NWS’s longer-range forecast shows temperatures rising only slightly for the Thanksgiving Day holiday, recovering to the low 50s with overnight lows in the mid-30s.
