Authorities in Monmouth County are investigating the circumstances that led to the tragic death of a Brick Township man while at work earlier this week.

According to police in Middletown Township, officers were called to 1040 State Route 35 in Middletown – a strip mall style shopping center – for a report of a workplace accident.

Upon arrival, officers learned that Kevin McAdorey, 58, of Brick, had been using a motorized scissor lift while performing work at the site. The lift was elevated when it came into contact with power lines, police said. According to the report, McAdorey fell to the ground from a distance of approximately 20 feet and was found to be in an unconscious condition. He was treated by Middletown Township Emergency Medical Services and transported to Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, where he was pronounced deceased.
