An investigation by the Brick Township Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit resulted in the arrest of a Berkeley Township woman who is accused of stealing prescription pads from the township doctor’s office where she worked. She was also charged with numerous offenses related to illicit street drugs.
Brick detectives executed a residential search warrant at a residence in Berkeley Township July 14, said Ptl. Victoria Finelli. Detectives were investigating Candace Colbert, a 60-year-old woman who was suspected of stealing prescription blanks from a doctor’s office where she was employed.
The investigation revealed that over time, beginning in March of 2022, Colbert forged and fraudulently passed 36 scripts for prescriptions at pharmacies in Toms River, Finelli said.

Colbert was charged with possession of crack cocaine, possession of heroin, intent to distribute crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence, obstructing administration of law, possession of prescription legend drugs, obtaining a controlled dangerous substance by fraud, forgery by writing, theft of movable property and practice of medicine by unlicensed person.
Colbert was processed at Brick Police Headquarters and released on a summons.
