Shore residents received a beautiful parting gift from Mother Nature on Friday night in the form of a magnificent sunset before what is expected to be a tumultuous several days of weather which could include two different storms. As for the forecast, the National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory for the region as the storm system moves in, calling for “up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.”
“At this level, flooding begins on the most vulnerable roads in coastal and bayside communities, and along inland tidal waterways. Some partial or full road closures are possible,” the advisory said. “Flooding impacts will be greatest along the backbays of Barnegat Bay as southerly winds Saturday night into Sunday will likely trap water in the bay.”
The NWS forecast calls for rain, mainly after 3 p.m. Saturday with a high near 45. Breezy, with a light and variable wind becoming east 15 to 20 m.p.h. in the morning. About a half-inch of rain will fall.

Saturday night, another inch of rain is expected, with an east wind 20 to 30 m.p.h. becoming north after midnight. Sunday will see rain continuing until about 9 a.m, after which the day will remain cloudy with a high near 42. A small amount of rain will fall, the NWS said.
The sun will return Monday, but forecasters are tracking another system that may move into the region Tuesday afternoon, bringing potentially heavy rain to the region as well as windy conditions again – this time through Wednesday afternoon.
No snow is forecast.
