A winter storm that forecasters had been concerned could produce a more significant snowfall than the 1-3 inches that fell across the region earlier this week will include more rain than first thought, leading the National Weather Service to lower the snow accumulation forecast.
After a mostly cloudy day on Thursday with a high of 36 degrees, a chance of snow will begin after 3 a.m. overnight, with a low of 33 degrees. New snow accumulation of “less than a half inch” is possible overnight.
On Friday, snow is likely before 10 a.m., changing to a rain-snow mix between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and ultimately changing back to light snow after 4 p.m. Accumulations will total only “around an inch,” the NWS forecast said, leaving the total amount of snow predicted to fall at 2-inches or less, most of which would be washed away by afternoon rain on Friday, with a high of 36 degrees.

The forecast also warned of minor coastal flooding on Friday at times of high tide.
A few snow showers are possible Friday night, the NWS said. Saturday will be partly sunny, but with a high of only 27 degrees. It will be blustery, with a northwest wind around 20 m.p.h., with gusts as high as 35 m.p.h.
Sunday will also be sunny with a high of 32 degrees.
