Annual ‘Brick Hero Awards’ Ceremony to be Held Friday, Honoring Local Residents

The Mayor’s Student Advisory Committee will host the annual Brick Hero Awards celebration this Friday, an event designed to honor Brick residents and business that exhibit “a remarkable effort to make the community a better place in ways small and large.”

The ceremony is being held on Friday, March 8 in the auditorium of Brick Township High School, 346 Chambers Bridge Road. The event will begin at 7 p.m., with doors open at 6:30 p.m. It will include performances by BTHS and BMHS choir and drama clubs, and the Brick Dance Team. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door; $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. All proceeds from the event benefit The Mayor’s Student Advisory and the Lounge 270 Teen Center.



“It’s our everyday heroes that really make the difference in our community,” Mayor Lisa Crate said. “People looking out for each other and caring for one another is just one of the many things that makes Brick Township so special.”

The goal of the Brick Hero Awards is to recognize acts of kindness and put those who actively do good deeds in the spotlight. This year, recipients will be awarded based in the following categories: Business, Community Stewardship, Military/Veterans, Non-Profit Organization, Public Safety, Public Service, School Personnel, Seniors, Volunteerism and Youth.

The Mayor’s Student Advisory Committee (MSAC) is comprised of students from both Brick Township and Brick Memorial High Schools. MSAC was created by former mayor John Ducey as a way to give young people a greater voice in the local community. The mission of MSAC is to “empower the youth of our community to be more civic-minded and the leaders of today,” an announcement said.

“The Hero Awards is a perfect example of our wonderful community coming together to highlight each other’s remarkable contributions and acts of kindness,” said Crate,
