Brick Township’s annual Summerfest celebration will continue, as it has for decades, this season at Windward Beach Park. Over the last two meetings of the township council, officials awarded contracts to bidders in various categories for food and drinks – and the township is still seeking more.

At Tuesday’s meeting, the council unanimously voted to award the sole bidder – Windward Tavern – the permit to operate the beer and wine garden at Summerfest for $7,100. Council President Vincent Minichino said 26 potential bidders were notified off a township list, three picked up packets, but Windward Tavern was the only business to apply. Last year, the beer and wine contract netted $9,100 for the township.

At its second-most-recent meeting, officials selected food vendors in a number of categories. These vendors include:

  • Big Blue Wrap and Roll, serving sausage and peppers, ribeye cheesesteaks, specialty egg rolls and more.
  • Dellano Food Service, serving traditional grilled and fried foods such as burgers and sandwiches.
  • Highway 2 Ohana (Ohana Grill, Lavallette), a food truck run by the popular Ohana Grill restaurant in Lavallette, featuring island-inspired seafood, including lobster rolls, crab burgers, shrimp tacos and more.
  • John and Debbie O’s Concessions, serving funnel cakes, fried Oreos, lemonade and other snacks.
  • Little Caesars Pizza
  • You Scream Ice Cream

While the township awarded several food truck contracts for Summerfest, the municipality is still seeking more vendors to round out this year’s offerings. The township’s purchasing agent was directed by the council to advertise additional slots for more bidders to submit proposals.

In all, the food vendors will pay $9,861, which has already been submitted to the township. Last season, the food trucks collectively generated $11,880 for Summerfest, which is primarily funded through major corporate sponsorships.

Summerfest consists of four major events that include concerts and fireworks, plus smaller events including a car show and National Night Out.
