Brick Plans Resurfacing of Township Parks, Beginning With One in 2024

Frede Park

Brick Township, in its 2024 capital budget, plans on budgeting to resurface several parks in town, beginning with a community park that officials say is most in need of an upgrade.

This year, the township will replace the surfaces at Frede Park, located at 119 Frede Drive, off the easternmost side of Burnt Tavern Road (sometimes known as the “Bridge Avenue Extension”). The budget this year provides for replacing the surfacing at the playground portion of the park, which would bring it up to current standards and replace the aging surface that currently exists.

Brick set aside enough funding for the expected cost to resurface three parks, however officials will space the projects out – one a – as conditions are examined and surfaces come up for maintenance.

“The rubber surface expires, it degrades,” said Joanne Bergin, the township’s Business Administrator. “We’re starting with the [park] that needs it most, which is Frede Park.”

The project will be put out for public bidding when plans are finalized, and it is expected a contract will be awarded for completion before the end of 2024.
