Brick police announced early Tuesday morning that Hooper Avenue (commonly known as “Old Hooper Avenue”) will be closed in both directions and urged motorists to avoid the area.
Hooper Avenue will be closed between Brick Boulevard and Mantoloking Road for paving. Traffic will be detoured to Cedar Bridge Avenue. The announcement did not state when the roadway was expected to be reopened.

The area has been under construction since last year due to the replacement of the Duck Farm Bridge, which carries traffic along Hooper Avenue over a creek that flows to the Metedeconk River. The county-led project was completed in two stages to allow traffic to continue to move through the area. In June, Shorebeat reported the replacement had met its halfway point.
